Scents of foie gras, musk, and truffle suggest that the Weinbach 2008 Gewurztraminer Cuvee Laurence might be their most expensive Gewurztraminer, though it isn't! Lemon and orange blossom; rose petal and fennel pollen displayed are only a little less exotic and every bit as alluring. This comes onto the palate surprisingly slight; although given what has gone before in this vintage and collection, its almost Riesling-like brightness, firmness, and citricity might have lost any shock value. A lovely sweetness of quince with an alkaline mineral undertone speaks of Chenin. can have on the chemistry of any white wine grape.
