Magpie Estate The Salvation Gewurztraminer 2011

New

Already showing some colour development; while the bouquet is varietal, it is the palate that really brings the lychee and peach fruit flavours to the fore; almost inevitably, the finish is slightly thick.

This is a style of wine we really enjoy so we found a suitable higher altitude vineyard in the north of the Barossa, in Moculta to source this fruit.

The wine is cool fermented and bottled relatively early to keep all its aromatics. It’s an off-dry style with around 9 grams per litre of residual sugar so not as sweet as one might expect from this varietal.

Perfumed with lychee, citrus and a touch of musk on the nose. Fairly crisp for Gewurztraminer on the palate, tangy with honeyed lychee and citrus. Finishes with clean acidity. Really appealing style and great with a variety of Asian dishes.
